Unnamed 2-YEAR-OLD CHESTNUT FILLY – out of TIME TO DREAM by EL PADRINO. – 80% (Our trainer, Phil Schoenthal, asked to acquire 20%)
- Maryland Bred 2-year-old filly was purchased at the Fasig-Tipton Mid Atlantic 2-year-olds in training sale on May 22nd.
- She is a big and long filly that had a very high rating on the stride length scale and a very impressive pedigree on the dam side. (See below for a pedigree highlights synopsis.)
- She has been at Laurel since May 23rd. This 2-year-old has been jogging every day and doing everything in a very professional manner. She went through a light breeze on 6/7 and all signs are very encouraging from our trainer, Phil Schoenthal. She does have a skin issue that Phil’s team is working to clear up but this should be remedied soon.
Pedigree Highlights: The dam, Time To Dream, is by the sire Time For A Change who is by our Group namesake, Damascus. Essentially our filly is the great granddaughter to Damascus. (The Group was named in advance of this acquisition so this coordination of names was merely a positive coincidence.)
Time To Dream has an impressive resume herself with $112,000 in career earnings on the track but much more impressively is that she has foaled 8 progeny of which 7 have raced and 6 are winners. This is an incredibly stellar record of percentage of progeny to race and to win. In addition, her grand dam (grandmother) Five Star Night is the dam of 10 foals, with 9 to race and 8 to win!
The sire is El Padrino. Our filly will be in his first crop of progeny to race but this son of the fabulous sire, Pulpit, was respectable on the track and should have a bright breeding future.
She will be trained by Laurel based trainer, Phil Schoenthal. We will target this filly for the 30% MD Bred owner bonus program on top of an already respectable purse structure for certain races. If all goes to plan, she could race within a couple of months**.
