Fun Facts About Thistledown Race Track

1. The track first opened in 1931. 
   

2. Thistledown hosts the Grade 3 Ohio Derby each year. This race has historically been won by horses like Kentucky Derby winner Black Gold and champion Skip Away. 
   

3. The track has a one-mile dirt oval and no turf course. 
   

4. Thistledown hosts live racing from April through September.  

5. There is no live racing in the entirety of Ohio from January to March. 
   

6. There will be 14 stakes races run at Thistledown in 2024.
